The Black History 101 Mobile Museum
Detroit, MI (2008)

With continuing cuts in educational funding, schools have reduced or eliminated field trips to cultural institutions such as museums. A local Detroit collector of African American cultural artifacts has confronted this issue by taking his collection “on the road.”

This Mobile Museum travels to school parking lots and cultural events to bring the museum to children. In Spring 2009, local artist, Tyree Guyton, fabricated the exterior of a trailor, and the DCDC designed and constructed the interior for exhibit space.
