Detroit, MI (2016)
O’Shea Park is a city park at the intersection of I-96 and Greenfield Road that will soon be home to a solar array powered by DTE and the City of Detroit. The Detroit Planning and Development Department is also implementing a small, active landscape project adjacent to the solar array on the site of an existing playscape, basketball courts and recreation center. The lead landscape architect on the active landscape park design is Spackman Mossop Michaels, with community engagement support from Donna Harris. DCDC supported engagement efforts and was charged with developing a concept for how the existing recreation center could be partially deconstructed and repurposed as a community pavilion, plaza and viewing platform.
