Wil Marquez
Wil Marquez is the Co-Executive Director at the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC) at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture and Community Development. Marquez brings over 20 years of experience in architecture, urban design, and community development, grounded in a purpose filled commitment to design excellence and community-centered practice.
Marquez is known for leading interdisciplinary projects that reimagine spaces through thoughtful, forward-thinking strategies—infused with a distinct design sensibility. His approach introduces newness into environments, blending cultural relevance with creative risk. His work spans neighborhoods, corridors, and partnerships, all grounded in a commitment to where we live and the architecture we believe in.
Marquez holds degrees in architecture from the University of Minnesota (B.A.) and the University of Michigan (M.A.), where he developed a strong foundation in both design theory and urban design practice. In addition to his professional work, Marquez serves as a Historic District Commissioner for the City of Detroit and as a Board Member of the Urban Neighborhoods Initiative (UNI) in Southwest Detroit. He also maintains strong academic relationships across Canada and Latin America.
