Juan Munoz-Ponce
Juan Muñoz-Ponce is the 2025 Public Interest Design Fellow at the University of Detroit Mercy's Detroit Collaborative Design Center. He is pursuing his degree in architecture at the University of Detroit Mercy. Since 2023, he has worked as a co-op and consultant at the Design Center before transitioning into his current role as Public Interest Design Fellow. Juan grew up in Southwest Detroit, where he developed a passion for community service and environmental stewardship. At the Design Center, he has contributed to neighborhood planning projects and community garden designs across Detroit. He approaches his work with a focus on environmental care, the restoration of wildlife habitats, and creating spaces for humans and nature to coexist. Prior to his time at the DCDC, Juan worked as a research assistant at the University of Michigan on various projects related to architecture, immigration, and social work.
